The Wedding
Once upon a time there was a girl called Catherine and a boy called David. These two youngsters lived on different parts of the earth - Catherine is from the land of the Vikings (yes, thats Norway) and David was living Down Under. They met on IRC and after a few months, David and Catherine could take no more. It was time to lessen the physical distance between them.
19th December 1997 David arrived at Oslo Airport and from that day no-one could separate these two kids in love. Ok so David was really only going to stay for a little while, but its now been 1 1/2 years and he's still up North - now for good.
David proposed to Catherine a few short hours after that first hug and on 10 July 1999 they got married at Akershus Slottskirke in Oslo.

These photos were taken by a hobby photographer working with Catherine's mum.

The Big Day just could not have been any better, everything went smoothly - even the weather co-operated. Oslo had experienced 3-4 weeks of cold and wet weather, but summer arrived only a couple of days before the wedding - good timing is essential!
Catherine and her Dad arrived the church by a carriage. We were a bit early so waited a few mins outside the church. Of course, the whole area around this 700 old church was filled with tourists and we had our pictures taken by quite a few yanks and japs.
Finally - the big walk up the aisle. I remember it so well - rounding the corner and *squeezing* Dads hand for support, felt like I was floating on air! The ceremony was perfect, as was the cermon. It was all over in just under half an hour. Married at last !
A few photos outside the church of course - the entire family as well as the couple. Then the carriage took the happily married couple along with the best man, Morten (Catherine's brother) and the maid of honour, Kristin (Morten's fiancee) and their little daughter, Anja.

After a glass of champagne and unwrapping a ton of presents, it was time for dinner and with dinner comes the speeches. Now, I'd like to show you a pic of my Dad when he held his speech for me - but to be honest it was so touching i kept bawling ehehe. But there were other speeches, Uncle Tony, David's Uncle, held one, and so did Morten, Kristin and David.

After having eaten and enjoying good wine for a couple of hours, it was time to cut the cake. The first piece is cut and now we're just looking for a plate to put it on.

After coffee and a few drinks we all went out to take a few more photos. The Hughes family - most of them from England, but also with David's sister Karen who had made it from Australia along with her boyfriend Grant. Catherine's family was of course also there, some from Oslo and some from the Western part of Norway where Catherine's Mum is from.
The happy couple seem to do nothing but smile the whole day - but we did manage to squeeze in a kiss or two ;-)

Thanks to all the family who made this day a truly special one.
Love from Cat and Dave
