Pictures and notes from 2006

Friday 30 December 2006, 08:12 - Good morning :-)
Did you sleep well? Both Claire and I slept pretty good I think - she came upstairs some time during the nite as usual but I have no idea when that was. She wanted to get out of bed at 05:20 but I told her that it wasn't morning yet and that we have to sleep a little bit more. Furtunately she listened today and slept 8, and mum was happy happy happy. Dave's still in bed snoring and we'll let him stay there for another hour or so I think.
Gotta do a huge food shopping spree today for tomorrows dinner. This year it'll be Carpaccio for starter, turkey with the works for main course and Tiramisu for dessert - an Italian twist to New Year's Eve ;-)
It'll be quite interesting as I've never made Carpaccio OR Tiramis *huge grin* but it'll be fiiiiiiiiiiiine - I think!

Friday 29 December 2006, 2042 - Laziness is next to Godliness
Did you see that snow on the front page? Well thats the only snow we've seen this Xmas! Yep, you got it - we've had a green Xmas this year and I dont like it one bit...neither does Claire for that matter. Tomorrow they've even predicted +5C and rain ... RAIN!! I mean - come on!
Can you believe how quickly this year has gone? So much has happened and then again things are pretty stable and niiiiiice. Claire's doing really really good. I mean REALLY good. She's just this little ray of sunshine 24/7 (ok then, 23/7 but thats still pretty good eh). Dave's doing good too, he has worked much less this December and the change is dramatic - his asthma is hiding back there still but not totally screwing him over like it usually does at this time of the year. And me? Well I've had a fanbloodytastic year. Seriously. I'm still with the same company but moved over to sales late May and have found my calling in life - selling compact flanges ;-). Things are certainly looking very good for the Hughes family up North.
And yeah - I'll get some piccies posted to - prolly tomorrow as I'll prolly be cooking all Sunday. Family coming over as usual. And yep, they're all doing grand too.
And yeah I know, I've been a lazy lil possum this year with the web updates, but until very recently I've been kinda allergic to the old puter but I think I'm over the worst now ;-)

Monday 14 August 2006, 21:08 - Did you?
Well - did you? Did you update delirious.org, baby?
No.
My excuse? The summer was too good :-)
Seriously. We've had an awesome summer - weeks upon weeks of temps hovering around 30C and that is so not normal around these parts.
I hear you're crying out for fresh pics too - they're coming, Dave was mumbling something about getting a photo album thing on delirious so I'm just sitting here waiting for that one.
I got promoted, by the way (Cat dances around whilst grinning madly). I've moved up to the sales dept and I'm loving it - at last, a job I really really love. Seems like it's been forever. Dave's doing fine at his job - not many changes there lately. Claire is now in the falcon group at daycare - last year until she's off to school next August.
Oh - we're being invaded. Next week 6(!!) Brits will storm through that door and settle down for the next 5 days or so, should be good fun :-). Liz, Steve and the kids are coming over next Wednesday and they're staying until Sunday. Hopefully the weather will be a bit better next week then what it's gonna be this week.

Wednesday 10 May 2006, 1741 - Spring has sprung
You guys wouldnt believe the winter we had this year. They say that these parts of the country hasn't seen snow like this for 40-50 years. It just never stopped. It snowed and snowed and snowed and snowed and snowed and....well you get the idea. My parents left for a week's holiday to Egypt 20 April and we still had winter when they left and lots of snow in the garden etc. 2 days after they left we started getting some good temps, a bit of rain and the snow just went..BYE BYE! Mum and Dad came back to spring a week later - it really happened that fast.
And then a week ago summer arrived - well ok we know it's not for real - but god it feels good. 25c yesterday, Drammen was the warmest city in Europe - just amazing.
Right now I'm doing what I've wanted to do for years - sitting outside in my own garden with the laptop hooked up to the wireless network. Its a good life - just wish the food was ready! Just having some burgers today, but need to call Dave to check when he's home. He's been away for a couple of days on a course.
And yes, we're all doing very well thanks. Claire now has a lot of friends around here who asks for her all the time and it seems she's always outside playing these days - just like it should be. Mum and Dad bought her a bike on Monday and she's totally over the moon of course, she'll be a pro by the end of summer :-)

Saturday 21 January 2006, 0837 - Winter is back
One week later and we suddenly have a meter of snow more then we did last weekend. It's been snowing like crazy all week but this morning it finally seems to have subsided. I wish I could tell you that it's stopped, but that wouldn't be quite true - there's still a few flurries out there dancing around in the air.
Claire is of course loving it - tho on Monday afternoon (the day before it started snowing) Claire was telling me she wished summer would arrive soon coz she was sick and tired of the winter now. Cheeky little thing....
It has been a really good week for us. I got a good pay rise at work, work is going really good these days actually. Dave changed cars this week and is now driving a Plymouth. Might not be a much better car to drive in the snow being bigger, heavier and an automatic - but there's no doubt that this is a better car. Like - there is no wind thru the doors and the car actually gets warm after a few mins...which did NOT happen with the old one.
Anja is visiting today and is also staying the nite in Claire's room - I think both girls are equally exstatic about tonite hehe. They were going to play around in the snow and go skiing this afternoon but we'll see - Claire's got a cold so I'm not sure how much she should be outside in the snow. She could get better later on so I'm holding off my descision until later on.

Sunday 15 January 2006, 06:41 - We're back :-)
Wow - well, where do I start?
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, thanks for the presents and cards from you all - we love you all so much.
It has taken some time but I think we've finally come to the point where we can now say we're well installed into the new house. Still paintings to put up, tons of things we need to buy but its very livable as it is now. I'll go around with the camera later this week and show you all the rooms - a guided virtual tour :-).
Claire is doing very well and like the rest of us she's loving the house. It is so good for her to finally have her own room and of course its great that there's quite a few kids in the neighbourhood - making it much easier for them to visit each other. Imagine - in a year and a half she'll be off to school....how cool is that :-)
Dave is doing pretty good as well. Both he and Claire has had some asthma after Xmas but I think that's due to the cold weather we had for a few days. Dave's eating a bit of wheat again but not too much - he's testing it out a bit I think. For the first time in months he had toast with vegemite the other day - I have a feeling he's missed it... Dave's work is going pretty good as well. Worked a lot in December as usual but for the first time in years he didn't work Xmas Eve - made for a nice change.
And then there's me. Things are getting better at work and I'm much happier now. Orders are coming in and work load is at last comfortable. I'm really not happy when there's not enough to do - that's when I feel stressed! Go figure...
Dave said the other day: 'Cat - what do I have to do to make you update the blog?'. Cheeky thing - update it yourself you lazy lazy boy! So - sorry Dave, Jan, Mum and Dad, Liz and everyone else - I shall do my best to improve :P
